About Star Gays
Star Gays: The Queer Astrology Archives Podcast examines the lives and works of queer artists, activists, and thinkers through the lens of their astrological birth chart. Each episode focuses on one individual from the archives and overlays their natal chart on their biography to draw connections between their life experiences and astrological influences. Through this process, my goal is to develop a deeper relationship with astrology and with a long lineage of queers who are making sense of their worlds through creative and analytical practices.

Why Star Gays?
Rummaging through the archives of queer art, thought, and activism has been a lifelong journey. Creating a queer lineage through the archives has been incredibly important to developing my sense of self. Astrology has also been a critical tool for understanding my life and my place in the world. Studying the cycles of time has allowed me to connect to the past and be more present in my own experience. Both astrology and queer archival art and activism have been ways that I have located myself and rooted into who I am and where I come from. Star Gays: The Queer Astrology Archives Podcast is my attempt to bring these passions together and share what I have learned with you all.
Meet Your Host: Elly Higgins
Hey, my name is Elly .
I’m a queer and trans astrologer invested in learning and teaching astrology through queer cultural history.
As a consulting astrologer, I am interested in meeting people where they are at, helping them find their path and trust their agency, becoming co-collaborators with the cosmos. My style is practical and grounded in the ways that power and oppression impact how we are able to live out our birth charts. I believe that the magic of astrology comes alive in the consultation setting and have been offering one-on-one consultations since 2022.
My astrological research is focused on understanding queer art, theory, and community organizing through the lens of astrology. I have presented facets of this research on The Astrology Podcast, ISAR, and Steering By Starlight in addition to Star Gays.
I use whole sign houses, traditional planetary rulers, and the essential dignities scheme from the Hellenistic tradition. I offer one-on-one natal and timing consultations as well as electional astrology reports.
My Astrological Lineage
In addition to many years of self study, starting with Chani Nicholas and Demetra George, I have completed Chris Brennan’s comprehensive Hellenistic Astrology Course, studied privately with Amy Green, taken classes with Kelly Surtees, tutored under Michael J Morris, and completed a course of electional astrology study through private training with Kira Ryberg. I am indebted to the teachings of Dr. Ali A. Olomi and am currently enrolled in Austin Coppock’s Fundamentals of Astrology.
I am a member of the Association for Young Astrologers.
As a forever-student of the cosmos, I am consistently updating my practice to include new techniques and ideas.
