Sylvester Zine Available Now!
For the last several months, astro-artist Duna Haller and I have been hard at work putting together something we've dreamed about creating for a long time: A physical zine to preserve our queer-astrology-ancestor-devotion for the brilliant disco diva, Sylvester! Sylvester was emblematic of the disco era’s vibrant queer communities and this zine is an offering to their luminosity.
Sylvester was a Virgo icon and the voice of Disco's gender bending potential! Born on September 6, 1947, this was created in celebration of what would have been their 79th birthday.
At a moment when queer and trans histories are being erased, when things can be deleted from the internet without a trace, we wanted to create something that you could hold in your hands and keep with you. Something you could share with a friend. Something you could return to.
This zine has been a labor of love and devotion - to Sylvester, yes! And to all of our queer ancestors who made things together, who collaborated on art projects, who shared in the joy of creation, and to the art they created, documented, and gifted to us!
Based on the episode of Star Gays we put out in 2024, this zine has lots of new and updated information about Sylvester's astrology.
Featuring 10 new collages by Duna - this is an art object as much as it is an astro-biography!
